Do a visual inspection of the pipe: Look for the pipe that transports the water from the pump to the outside outlet and check it for clogging, dirt, debris and damage. You can clear debris by hosing water through the pipe, but any damage means it should be replaced. Check the electrical supply: Your sump pump will have two plugs into the outlet. The pump cord plugs into the back of the float cord plug. Simply remove both plugs and plug only the pump cord back in.
